Jan 22, 2003 01:00 AM

Mari Gas has been awarded a new exploration license for the 2,443.9 sq km Ziarat Block in Baluchistan province by the government of Pakistan. The exploration and development permit is for three years and requires the drilling of at least one exploratory well during that period.
Mari Gas is expected to invest some $ 3.65 mm in exploration activities on the Ziarat Block, located some 50 km east of Quetta.

The company is currently the owner and operator of the Mari Field, with 5 tcf of proven gas reserves, Pakistan's second-largest field.
Mari Gas is a joint venture held by the Fauji Foundation, an enterprise owned by retired Pakistani army personnel, state-owned Pakistan Oil and Gas Development Company, and the Pakistani government.
