Oman reports on new gas discoveries

Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Romhi, minister of oil and gas in Oman, has said 68 metres of gas were recorded in Taibat exploratory well, located in a geological formation shared by block 7 and block 17 in the Omani waters, 12 km south of Bukha offshore field in Musandam peninsula.

Romhi said testing operations were being conducted on the well and Al Thumama layer produced 52 metres (from 8 to 11 mm cfpd of gas) and 16 metres of gas were recorded in Al Maudood layer. The minister said assessment of the size and economies of the discovery would be carried out after the completion of the testing.
Oman Novis produces gas from Bukha offshore field in block No. 8 and carries out other onshore activities in blocks 47, 15 and 31.
