Norwegians show little willingness to reduce use of energy

Jan 02, 2003 01:00 AM

Norwegians waste energy, while at the same time they complain about the high cost of electricity. This is the opinion of at least one expert, Kjell Gurigard, who thinks electricity ought to have been even more expensive in Norway.

Norwegian consumers have an almost senseless attitude towards their personal electricity consumption, and show little willingness to reduce the use of energy. This is shown by a new survey made for Enova. At the same time we complain about the high cost of electricity.
However, in the opinion of energy adviser Kjell Gurigard, the cost of electricity ought to have been even higher, in order to force us to reduce consumption. This, he says, would open the way for the use of more alternative energy than is the case today. Enova works for the use of more environmental friendly energy in Norway.
