Changeover to unleaded gasoline is complete success in UAE

Jan 15, 2003 01:00 AM

According to Dr Saad Al Numairy, Environmental advisor, UAE Federal Environmental Agency and Chairmen, the UAE-wide changeover to unleaded gasoline is a complete operational success with over 500 service stations and 750,000 motorists adopting the UAE GOES Green campaign.
The current success of UAE would not just bring long-term benefits for the country’s environment, but may also have a significant impact on further development of oil refining and petrochemical industry.

Dr Virginia Alberts, Executive Director, Behi-N-Vala Consulting commented: “The Middle East is awakening to the demand for cleaner more efficient fuels; consequently, the long-term environmental impact on the utilisation of oil and gas resources must be considered; and will lead to the development of the targeted Alternative fuels”.
Dr Virginia Alberts will present the paper at the World Refining Association’s 4th annual conference Oil Refining and Petrochemicals in the Middle East on alternatives fuels and their impactfor the Middle East, an examination of GTL and DME, and the need to study the environmental reasons for supporting these alternative fuels.
