Scomi confirms bid for Murphy Oil's contract

Scomi Group subsidiary Kota Minerals & Chemicals (KMC) has submitted a bid for a drilling fluids and engineering services contract to Murphy Oil. In a reply to the KLSE on Nov 14, Scomi said KMC received the invitation to bid for the contract on Oct. 22 and the bid was submitted on Nov. 10.
Scomi said it was unable to reveal the term and value of the contract, pending the outcome of an evaluation by the oil and gas major, which is based in Arkansas in the United States.

It said KMC received an invitation to bid from Murphy Sarawak Oil, Murphy Sabah Oil, Peninsular Malaysia Oil and Amerada Hess Malaysia.
Scomi said the bid was for the provision of mud engineering services and materials for Murphy Oil's 2004/05 deepwater and shallow water exploration and development drilling programmes and Amerada Hess' 2004 exploration drilling programmes.
