ExxonMobil to increase European presence

Dec 15, 2003 01:00 AM

US oil company ExxonMobil will build a centre in Prague to boost its commercial activities in Europe, according to Philip Cappuyns of the firm's European centre in Belgium and CzechInvest director Martin Jahn.
Following the announcement by logistics firm DHL to build a centre in Prague the decision of ExxonMobil proves that Prague is a good place for providing services with a high degree of value added, Jahn said. In this particular case, 100 % of services will be exported which will have a positive effect on the balance of payments, he added.

The new centre will be launched on April 1, 2004 and is expected to employ 200-300 staff, experts at IT, finance and accounting, in the first 12 months.
More staff will be hired providing the centre's operation proves successful, Cappuyns was saying. The investment is part of the Czech government programme of support to strategic services, which will enable ExxonMobil to draw money for staff training and retraining.
