Egyptian Oil Minister Samih Fahmi on 10 December discussed with a Chinese oil delegation prospects for increasing China's investment in Egypt and promoting oil and gas cooperation.
During the talks, the Chinese officials highlighted their country's oil and gas industries and corporation' manufacture of oil drilling equipment. They expressed Beijing's interest in furthering relations with Cairo.

Egypt and China maintain high-profile cooperation in oil and gas industries. The Egyptian official said that the meeting had produced an agreement on setting up joint working groups to look into Chinese companies' capabilities and explore fresh vistas for cooperation.
Egypt accords high priority for cooperation with China in view of their close relations, Fahmi said. He cited interest shown by key world oil corporations in operating in Egypt as a proof of the country's success in luring foreign investment.
