Kazakhstan reports on oil and gas extraction in 2003

In 2003 oil producing companies of Kazakhstan produced around 52 mm tons of oil and 14 bn cm of gas, Lyazzat Kyinov, vice minister of energy and mineral resources, said on April 29, during the international forum "Caspian: Politics, Economics, Business".
According to his information, 55-57 mm tons of oil and 16 bn cm of gas are planned to be produced in Kazakhstan in 2004. Moreover, "the main growth is expected at the expense of such fields as Tengiz, Karachaganak, Kumkol," Kyinov explained.

The surveyed reserves of raw hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan are the following:
oil -- 4 bn tons,
gas -- 3 tcm,
reserves of the Kazakhstani sector of Caspian Sea equal 15 bn tons of equivalent fuel.
It is expected that the total volume of raw hydrocarbons production can reach 170-180 mm tons by 2015.
