President Mohammad Khatami called for a strong national will to achieve the objectives of the government's 20-year vision plan.

On the importance of petrochemical investments in the country, Khatami said income from petrochemical products could match that from oil in the next 10 years. Today, annual sales from petrochemical products amount to $ 1.2 bn, he announced, adding that the figure could well rise to $ 2.8 bn by the time his term ends next year.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is on the road to becoming a more powerful country, President Khatami stressed, adding that a powerful state is dependent on superior technology, industry, economy, science, manpower and the enthusiastic participation of people in all areas of society.
