Russia boosts oil and gas output by more than 10 % this year

Russia has boosted oil and gas production in its booming energy sector by more than 10 % this year.
Production in the five months from January to May soared by 10.45 % compared with the same period last year to a total of 185.591 mm tons, new figures released by Russia's Federal Statistics Service showed.

Oil production alone grew by 10.16 % to 179.022 mm tons. The biggest oil producers were Yukos with 35.34 mm tons, up 9.7 %; LUKoil with 34.347 mm tons, up 7.19 %; Surgutneftegaz with 24.032 mm tons, up 10.59 %; Tyumen Oil with 19.566 mm tons, up 15.96 %; and Sibneft with 13.733 mm tons, up 10.79 %.
From January through May, Russia produced 273,646 bn cm of natural gas, up 3.14 %.
