Indo-Iran pipeline should be a priority

Jun 28, 2004 02:00 AM

Time is ripe for taking up urgent issues like laying up of Indo-Iranian gas pipeline on a priority basis, said a prominent Indian expert.
Professor Zafar Imam, scholar in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, added that the gas pipeline project is unnecessarily delayed.

With the new government in India under the premiership of Manmohan Singh, Tehran should make a renewed effort on this project, he suggested.
The gas pipeline project is profitable for everybody in the region, he said, adding that the new Indian Oil Minister, Mani Shankaraiyar, should make arrangements for the Indo-Iranian gas pipeline project.
