India reports on oil and gas production

Jun 23, 2004 02:00 AM

India's production of crude oil surged 8.1 % to 2.883 mm tons in May, according to new figures released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The ministry attributed the increase to higher output from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's (ONGC) Mumbai High fields, which jumped 14.3 % in the month.

Refinery throughput rose 13.6 % to 10.983 mm tons in May compared to 9.667 mm tons in the same month last fiscal year.
Natural gas production, however, fell 2.6 % to 2210 mm cm in May due to lower output from the western offshore, the ministry said.
