Enagas selects Fluor for expansion of regasification plant

Nov 12, 2004 01:00 AM

Further plans have been announced for the expansion of a LNG regasification plant in Huelva, Spain, as part of an effort to meet the needs of Spain's recently liberalized gas market.
Spain's largest natural gas supplier, Enagas, has selected the Fluor Corporation to provide construction management services for the expansion, which help meet the country's growing energy consumption.

The project aims to increase the vaporization capacity of the existing maritime LNG import terminal from 975 000 to 1.35 mm cm per hour, adding a new LNG tank and related equipment. Off site and auxiliary facilities will also be modernized in order to meet new requirements.
With its increased capacity, the facility will add additional volumes of gas to the national network. The gas will be imported from suppliers in North Africa, the Middle East and Central America.

The project is scheduled for completion in mid 2006 and will be executed out of Fluor's offices in Madrid and Asturias, Spain.
