Norsk Hydro upgrades Oseberg East platform

Oct 29, 2004 02:00 AM

Norsk Hydro has decided to spend NOK 1.9 bn on upgrading the Oseberg East platform, in order to be able to extract an extra 40 mm barrels of oil worth around NOK 12 bn.
The upgrading includes the drilling of a number of new production wells.

Some of the functions which are today carried out on the platform, will in future be shore-based. In this way operation costs will be reduced.
“We hope to lengthen the working life of the platform by another five to ten years,” says Norsk Hydro director Ivar Aasheim.
