Iran-Alborz oil platform, the biggest in the Middle East, will come on stream in the Caspian Sea by next June to provide the required equipment for the exploration and drilling operation in deep waters.
The Caspian Sea has a depth of 700-1,000 meters in southern and south-western areas.

The oil plant is controlled by direct anchoring in the areas with 400-meter depth or less and by pre-anchoring system in the areas having a depth of over 400 meters.
The platform has a length of 90 meters, a width of 60 meters and a height of 100 meters from the bottom. The structure weighs about 25,000 tons and resists against seven-meter-high waves and the storms with 22 m/s speed. It has the capacity to carry 2,320 and 3,070 tons of fuel and water respectively.

The power required for the platform is also supplied by two adjacent power plants having a capacity of 2,800 kW and a frequency of 50 Hz each. The platform is equipped with an area for landing helicopters, all welfare facilities, and drillingmachinery.
The contract for construction of platform was signed in 2000 and the operation began one year later with a total credit over 2,267 bn rials.
