Renewable energies account for 1 % of Iran's energy

Director of Education and Information Department of Iran Fuel Conservation Organization announced that renewable energy sources only accounted for 1 % of the country's energy.
Mohammad Hassan Zarbakhsh told that development of every country was based on three pillars of economy, energy and environment and interaction among the said factors will bring about economic prosperity and increased social welfare.

Zarbakhsh stated that 99 % of the country's energy came from non-renewable energies that cannot be replaced.
"Most energy consumption in Iran is attributed to non-productive (household) sector while in advanced countries, most energy has been allocated to industrial sector," he said.

He noted that based on the latest studies, energy consumption in household sector stood at 40 % while the figure for industrial and commercial sectors is as low as 27 %.
