CNPC reaches historic peak in Sudan oil production

The oil production of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in Sudan, a main overseas oil production base of the company, exceeded 16 mm tons in 2004, creating a historic peak, CNPC said on December 5.
CNPC has three projects in Sudan, including zone 1/2/4, zone 3/7, and zone 6, with the total oil production of over 16 mm tons in 2004. The oil products in 1/2/4 zone amounted to 15.74 mm tons, increasing by 1.57 mm tpy on year.

CNPC also found many new oil sources in the oil fields, and the geological reserves newly found in 2004 reached 1.38 bn barrels.
CNPC is building an oilfield with the annual oil production of 10 mm tons, and it is expected to put into production in the first half of 2005. The crude oil import volume of China will increase by 10 mm tons by then.

The annual oil production of the zone 4 is expected to reach 1 mm tons in 2006.
