Following the reconstruction of the LNG pipeline formerly carrying Iran's gas from Astara to the former Soviet Union, Iran and Azerbaijan would be able to swap 180 to 250 mm cf of gas.
"Based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the gas swap between the two countries is to begin from the next winter", Mohammad Ali Heidari, an expert in the Cooperatives Ministry told.

The expert noted that construction work of the pipeline would last until the cold season next year.
He also noted that electricity swap would be another field of cooperation that the two countries are keen to work on.
