Construction of Georgian section of BTC pipeline about to complete

Construction of the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline is about to complete, according to Azerbaijan International Operating Company.
Of the total 249 km of the pipeline length, some 6 km remain to be backfilled and about 50 km to be re-instated. The project employs 2017 citizens of Georgia and 405 foreigners.

As regarding to the Shah Deniz-Erzurum gas pipeline, 214 km were backfilled, 172 km of pipes were laid, and 156 km welded.
According to the company, the gas pipeline is expected to be put into operation in early 2006.
