UK approves development of Total's Forvie North gas field

Apr 07, 2005 02:00 AM

French oil major Total said the UK Department of Trade and Industry, or DTI, has approved the development of the Forvie North gas and condensate field in the North Sea.
The field is located about 440 km northeast of Aberdeen in the North Sea Block 3/15. Total said production will begin in late 2005. The field is 33 km to the south of the Alwyn field and was discovered in June 2002. The permit is wholly owned by Total.

The company said that at plateau, the field will produce 18,600 bpd of oil equivalent. A new high-pressure gas-condensate link will be built from Forvie to Alwyn North, Total's main production hub in the area.
Total said the Forvie subsea system has been designed with significant expansion capacity to accommodate production from additional wells from promising nearby exploration prospects, as well as from some fields in the Norwegian sector, subject to new commercial agreements.

Total's equity production in the UK last year was 332,000 bpd.
