India reports on oil products imports

Apr 25, 2005 02:00 AM

India's state-run and private oil marketing companies imported 8 mm tons of oil products in the 2004-2005 financial year ended March 31, up 11.1 %, a senior Petroleum Ministry official said.
"The overall oil product imports were higher last year because significant volumes of LPG were imported as well as due to imports of cleaner diesel and petrol (gasoline)," said the official.

In 2003-2004, India's oil marketing companies imported 7.20 mm tons of petroleum products.
India imports around 70 % of its crude requirements. The bulk of its imports are from the Middle East via term contracts. India domestic consumption of oil products is estimated around 112 mm tpy.
