Construction of more refineries may solve fuel crisis in Nigeria

Chairman of Senate Committee on Industries, Senator Felix Ogunwale, has said the only panacea to the on-going fuel crisis was to embark on the construction of more refineries in Nigeria.
Ogunwale stated this in Iragbiji, Osun State, while receiving the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led by its state Chairman, Alhaji Ademola Rasaq in his house.

According to him, the Senate was not happy with the fuel situation, but the only way out was to establish more refineries to reduce the suffering being faced by the Nigerians.
"We in the senate are not relenting on our efforts to better the lots of the common man on the streets in the country. I want to tell you that the shoes pinch us as well and that that is why the Senate is trying its effort at putting a stop to the incessant increase in the prices of petroleum products," he said.

Ogunwale added that he has not collected any constituency allowance since he was elected into the Senate, but used his resources to enhance the socio-economic development of the people of his senatorial district. He said he has better the lots of the people in the area of poverty alleviation, road construction, sinking of boreholes, employment opportunities to the people, scholarship award to the students among others.
Ogunwale said the on-going 18 km Osogbo-Iragbiji road will be completed to ease the transportation system in the area.

Earlier, Rasaq commended Ogunwale for his effort at bringing the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people of Osun Central Senatorial district area of the state. According to him, "going by the record of Ogunwale in the last two years in the area of constituency projects and empowerment programmes, he has touched the lives of common people in the district."
Rasaq, who described Ogunwale as the most performing Senator in Osun State, however, called on the people of the area to support his return to the Senate in 2007.
