A senior Turkish official said that Syria seeks to purchase 2 bn to 3 bn cm of Iranian gas per year via Turkish pipelines.
In this respect, Syria has sent a letter to Turkey's Energy Ministry in order to show its interest in receiving Iranian natural gas through Turkish pipelines.

The official said that the gas can be sent to Syria via a planned pipeline that will link Nevsehir in central Turkey and Kilis, a town nearby the Turkish-Syrian border.
The official added that this operation will save Syria from establishing a new and very expensive pipeline. He further indicated that this integration will boost Turkey's role in the area.

The official concluded that this project will get Iran, Syria and Turkey to work together in the energy field, thus this project would also be the key to solve the current problems between Syria and Iran concerning the quality and quantity of natural gas.
