PKN Orlen let an engineering, procurement, and construction management contract to Technip for a hydrogen plant at its 376,500 b/d refinery in Plock, Poland.
The EUR 50 mm lump-sum contract covers licensing, design, and supply of equipment and materials; construction management and supervision; and start-up services and training.

The hydrogen plant, scheduled to be operational in first quarter 2009, will have a capacity of 5 tons/hr.
The hydrogen produced will be used in the refinery to produce diesel oil in compliance with the European norms.

Technip also recently received a EUR 67 mm contract for construction of a diesel oil hydrodesulphurization unit at the Plock refinery.
The unit will produce 260 tons/hr of high-purity diesel oil, with a maximum of 10 ppm (wt) of sulphur. It will be one of the largest of its kind, Technip said.
