CNPC starts feasibility study on second West-East gas pipeline
China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) has started research on its second West-East gas pipeline project in Northwest
China's Shaanxi Province.
The gas pipeline is expected to run from Horgas of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Guangzhou and Shanghai,
with an annual capacity of transmitting 30 bn cm of gas.
The project, involving 7,700 km of pipelines, will cost yuan 102.1 bn. CNPC plans to begin construction in December
2008 and complete a section from Zhongwei City in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to Guangzhou by December
2010.
China completed its first West-East gas pipeline in 2004.
