Beach Petroleum finds new oil field in Queensland

Australia’s Beach Petroleum said that its Marcoola-1 well in ATP 269P in the Queensland portion of the Eromanga basin had been identified as a new field oil discovery.
Drill stem tests conducted over an interval between 1,208 metres and 1,220 metres flowed for 20 minutes before the packers failed, Beach said.

A total of six barrels of oil were reversed out of the test string, with no evidence of water. Further evaluation will be undertaken.
Beach is the operator of Maroola-1 with a 46.95 % working interests. Its partners at the well are Entek Energy (28.15 %), Inland Oil (20 %) and Santos (4.9 %).
