Sonangol and Odebrecht sign bio-energy production accord

Angola's state-run oil company Sonangol and the Brazilian building company Odebrecht, signed an accord for setting up of a firm for the production of bio-energy in the north-central Malanje Province.
The act took place in the fringes of the closing ceremony of a seminar among businessmen of Angola and Brazil, in the ambit of the visiting programme of Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, who was in Angola, on October 17-18.

The project will comprise an investment worth about $ 250 mm in the coming years. The new firm will produce 150 mm of tons of sugar per year, 50 mm litres of alcohol and 140 MW of electric power.
Angola and Brazil signed an understanding protocol in the domains of finance and other complementary to the existing co-operation in the fields of economy, science and technology, for the implementation of the Schooling for All project.
