Mozambique plans third licensing round

Nov 02, 2007 01:00 AM

Mozambique's National Petroleum Institute said the African country is planning on opening an oil block licensing round in December 2007. The third for the nation, the blocks will include nearly 20 mm acres of both onshore and offshore locations.
The official announcement will not be made until December, with the bidding process closing by June 1, 2008.

"We are preparing the next licensing round," said Carlos Zacarias, head of projects and development at the National Petroleum Institute. He was unaware of the exact number of blocks that will be up for grabs.
Currently, companies such as Petronas, StatoilHydro, Anadarko and ENI are working offshore Mozambique.
