The National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) says the Azadegan Oilfield will commence operation in January 2008 ahead of schedule.
"According to our estimates, up to 25,000 barrels of oil will be extracted from seven wells in the oilfield per day," said Managing Director of the Company, Seifollah Jashn-Saz in a board meeting of the National Iranian Oil Company in Ahvaz. "During the second stage of production, this figure will double to 50,000 bpd," he added.

Jashn-Zadeh also said the NISOC currently has the ability to produce 3.23 mm barrels of oil per day, which is 19,000 barrels more than what it planned for this year.
He added that the company's daily production capacity would climb to 3.266 mm barrels in the next two months with new wells starting production in other parts of southern Iran.
