Iran will not wait for any country to develop oil sector

The Iranian caretaker oil minister has said Iran will not wait for any country to implement its oil industry development projects.
"The early start of production in the Azadegan oilfield bears two messages to be taken note of inside and outside the country," Gholam-Hossein Nozari told on the sidelines of a visit to the oilfield. "The internal message is that we are able to expand the country's oil and gas fields using local experts. The international message is that Iran is determined to press ahead with the implementation of its projects regardless of what others decide to do," he added.

Foreign companies still have the opportunity to work in Iran, but any delay on their part would mean that they will miss out on that opportunity, Nozari said, adding that Azadegan oilfield is about to start production partly thanks to the efforts of the Iranian contractors.
The caretaker minister said production at the Azadegan oilfield would begin earlier than expected and in two phases, the first of which will commence in January 2008, at a production capacity of 25,000 barrels of crude per day.

Commenting on his caretaker status, Nozari said that he felt positive about the way things were currently moving ahead in the Majlis.
To take up the official ministerial post, Nozari needs to win the parliament's approval, as he cannot remain in caretaker capacity much longer.
