The Quebec cabinet approved the $ 840-mm Rabaska liquefied natural gas port in Levis, across the St Lawrence River from Quebec City.
Natural Resources Minister Claude Bechard and Environment Minister Line Beauchamp made the announcement saying 15 federal and Quebec ministries and agencies approve Rabaska, which will bring in liquefied natural gas in tanker ships from Algeria. One Quebec agency did not approve the site, saying it is "among the best agricultural land" in Canada.
