Angola needs skilled personnel for electricity supply sector

Feb 07, 2008 01:00 AM

Angola's minister of Energy and Water Affairs, Botelho de Vasconcelos, in Luanda said that shortage of national skilful technicians is one of the constraints to the development of the country's electricity supply sector.
The Government official was speaking at the opening of the second Seminar on the Implementation of the Reform Process of Angola's Electrical Sector.

Botelho de Vasconcelos added that in order to alleviate and resolve this situation some staff of the Ministry have been attending post-graduation courses at the State-run Agostinho Neto University.
He assured that the Ministry also expects to train staff overseas and support the training centres of Hoji-ya-Henda, in Luanda and Capanda, in Malanje province.

He underscored that the Ministry is committed to global development of the power sector to better meet the demands, mainly in the extension and supply of energy throughout the national territory.
The Cabinet minister said that his sector has defined priorities for advances in reform process as budget, payment deadlines and sources of functioning.
