Turkmenistan starts development of new gas field

Jan 09, 2009 01:00 AM

The development of new wells and land infrastructure was stepped up in the Gurrukbil-Garabil field located in the Takhtabazar region in Mariy province. Works are being carried out by specialists of subordinate organizations of the Turkmengaz and Turkmenneftegazstroy state concerns.
The launch of this field will enable Turkmenistan to increase gas output by 2 bn cm per year by the end of 2009 and to bring the production to 4 bn cm of gas by the end of 2010.

A gas preparation unit will be built in this field. Three strings with the capacity of 5 mm cm of gas per day, as well as a gas reservoir with a diameter of 720 mm tubes and a total length of 90 km, will be linked to the unit.
These facilities will supply the fuel to the main units of Dauletabad. The construction of the Gurrukbil-Douletabat road is also under way, the Turkmengaz state concern said.
