Siemens wins major renewable energy order from Dong
German engineering giant Siemens said it has won one of its biggest ever renewable energy contracts, worth more than
EUR 2 bn ($ 2.5 bn) for wind turbines.
"The agreement with Dong Energy (of Denmark) is one of the biggest orders in the history of Siemens," the head of
Siemens' renewable energy division Rene Umlauft was quoted as saying.
Siemens will deliver up to 500 offshore turbines from 2011 to the Danish power company, a spokeswoman said. The exact
amount of the contract was withheld by mutual consent, she added.
Total capacity of the turbines will reach 1,800 MW.
