Indonesia and Iran explore cooperation in oil and gas

Indonesia and Iran are exploring business cooperation in the fields of oil, gas and vegetable oil.
"As we know that Iran is one of the world's largest oil producing countries, and Indonesia is considered a very potential country in producing spices for vegetable oil's raw materials," Chairman of the Indonesian Cooperatives Council (Dekopin) Adi Sasono said.

The Dekopin chief received a business delegation of the Iran Central Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC-Coop) led by Zahri Naseri, an official of the Iranian cooperatives ministry and a member of the ICC-Coop. The delegation's members consisted of a number of Iranian businessmen. In the meeting, some Iranian businessmen expressed their interest in importing raw materials for producing vegetable oils, Adi Sasono said.
"They see that we are rich in raw materials for vegetable oils such as eucalyptus oil, vanilla, and patchouli, etc.," Sasono said.

Iran also needed spices for its medicine and pharmaceutical industry, he said. Indonesia was also considered a potential to produced processed food on high demand in Iran, he said.
"For oil and gas, we hope that Iran could give special support and consideration to Indonesia," he said.

Iran also expressed its interest in investing in the oil and gas sector in Indonesia, he said. Besides, Iran planned to invest in the property sector in cooperation with state-owned National Public Housing (Perumnas) company.
"They are also studying a possibility to invest in the property sector including houses for the public," Adi Sasono. "Dekopin has invited state-owned enterprises to follow up their interests," Sasono said. The Iranian business delegation is also scheduled to meet members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
