Kuwait plans to hike power output 50 %

Kuwait plans to hike the output of electric power 50 % in the coming few years, a senior official announced.
Minister of Electricity and Water Dr Bader Al-Shuraiaan said at the Arab electricity conference, that the State of Kuwait has very ambitions plans in the power sector, namely a scheme included in the government platform for the coming four years to hike the production of electricity by 50 %.

The plan also envisages renovation and maintenance of the national power sector, in addition to harnessing renewable energy resources, the minister added, at the conference, held under auspices of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. He affirmed necessity of developing the power sector because it is the main factor for development.
Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr Hassan Youness affirmed that Arab states, nowadays, are preoccupied with the issue of securing power resources for protection of the national security, signalling out the joint grids, distinguished with significant economic and environmental benefits.

Mohammad Al-Tuwaijeri, the assistant secretary general of the Arab League for economic affairs, said this conference is designed to shed light on conditions of the power field in the Arab states.
The head of the scientific committee of the convention, Dr Meshaan Al-Otaibi, said the gathering addressed technologies for extending the life of electric systems, modern inspection techniques of the power stations and electric systems.
