Iran exports 7.6 bn cm of natural gas in 10 months

Jan 18, 2012 12:00 AM

Managing-Director of the National Iranian Gas Company Javad Oji announced that the country has exported 7.6 bn cm of natural gas to other countries in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), which shows a 10.5 % growth compared with the same period last year.

Oji said that nearly 9 bn cm of natural gas was also imported during the same period, up 35 % in comparison with the preceding year. He noted that the country's average daily gas production amounted to 620 mm cm.
Iranian oil ministry officials announced earlier this month that the country would increase gas production at its giant South Pars gas field by 100 mm cmpd as soon as phases 15, 16, 17 and 18 come on line next year.

Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony held to mark endorsement of two oil contracts related to the South Pars gas field development, Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi dismissed sanctions against the country, and said the US sanctions are nothing new as Washington has been practicing the same policy for years, but it has achieved no success through the measure.
He stressed that Iran will benefit from sanctions opportunity and oil industry projects will go ahead as planned.
