Pertamina EP discovers gas in South Sumatra

Feb 20, 2012 12:00 AM

Pertamina EP, the upstream business unit of state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, has discovered new gas reserves in the PAFE Pagardewa area in South Sumatra. The company announced that the Lavatera-1 exploration well in the area could produce 5.7 mm cfpd of gas.
“We are very happy with the discovery. It has provided a significant contribution to our efforts in optimizing oil and gas production and discovering new reserves.”

The company planned to directly prepare a put on production (POP) scheme for the Lavatera-1 well in early 2013 to allow the well to produce 3 mm cfpd, he said. He added that the same POP schemes had also been implemented for 7 other wells with combined production of 17 mm cfpd of gas and 450 bpd.
“The gas will all be supplied to [state gas distributor] PT PGN for the South Sumatra-West Java [SSWJ] pipeline,” Syamsu said.
