Italian government approves TAP landing point

The Italian government gave its approval to the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project this week, Nichi Vendola, the president of Apulia, told.

Vendola said the government had overruled environmental opposition to the TAP landing point near Melendugno.

The estimated $45 billion project will deliver Caspian gas to Europe via Greece and Albania, before carrying on to Italy via a 10 billion cubic metre per year pipeline under the Adriatic Sea by 2020.
