Belarus and Libya to expand trade and investment in oil and gas sectors

Belarusian and Libyan officials have signed deals to expand trade and investment in the oil and gas and other sectors of their isolated nations' economies, Belarusian state television has reported. Libyan Defence Secretary Abu Bakr Younis Yaber left the former Soviet republic after he and his delegation signed the documents. Jaber had met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Vladimir Yermoshin during his four-day visit.

Earlier, officials had said the Libyan delegation's talks were to focus on creating a joint bank and joint ventures in petrochemicals, timber processing, machine building and electronics.
The two countries condemned terrorism, rejected "attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign countries," and urged the lifting of UN sanctions against Libya.
