British Gas awarded Ulysse in Tunesia
British gas has been awarded of the Ulysse permit in the Gulf of Gabes by Tunesia. The company is now the largest foreign holder of Tunisian oil and gas exploration and production acreage. The new 1,912 sqkm permit increases British Gas' total acreage in the country to 6,528 sqkm. British Gas and Tunisia's national oil company, Enterprise Tunisienne d'Activites Petroleum (ETAP), each have a 50% stake in the permit, which covers an initial four-year exploration period during which British Gas will carry Enterprise Tunisienne's share. The permit lies close to British Gas's producing Miskar gas field as well as the Ashtart oil field and the Hasdrubal gas discovery.
