Construction work on a new oil pipeline to link the Tunisian oil field of Sidi el Kilani, in central Tunisia, to the oil terminal of Skhira, 300 km south of Tunis, is due to start soon, it has been announced.
Tunisian officials in charge of the project met recently in Tunis with representatives of Kuwait's Kufpec-Tunisia, which is responsible for production at Sidi el Kilani.
During the meeting, they discussed the routing of the pipeline, which will be used to transport Sidi el Kilani's production.
The estimated cost of the 122 km pipeline is $ 12 million. It will have a capacity to carry 25,000 bpd. Construction work is expected to last 11 months.
Sidi el Kilani is the third-largest field in the country, after El Borma and Ashart.
