CNPC puts new refinery on stream in Algeria

The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the parent company of PetroChina, announced that the 5-mm-tpy refinery it contracted to build in Algeria came on stream on July 25.
The refinery, located at Skikda in eastern part of Algeria, is the largest overseas refinery project that CNPC has taken on to date.

Under the project contract, worth $ 385 mm, CNPC undertook to complete the construction in 39 months and build refining facilities with an annual capacity of 5 mm tons and a cluster of product oil stockpiling tanks.
The refinery will be able to produce major oil products such as naphtha, butane, jet fuel, light diesel and heavy diesel.
