Damaged vessel being prepared for Shah Deniz area
The multi-functional vessel Markab, transported by the Dutch company Fugro from Europe to the Caspian, has finally
arrived in Baku.
It is in the Zykh-2 shipyard where the Aker Rauma company is preparing it to operate in the Shah Deniz area. The
vessel spent a long time on its way to the Caspian because it had been damaged and had to stop for repairs in a
Turkish port. The vessel has been delivered to Baku to carry out geotechnical research on the Shah Deniz deposit. The
Azeri-Fugro joint venture won a tender in April, which was announced by BP to carry out work to study the upper
section of the deposit.
Work will be performed in the area where partners in the Shah Deniz deposit have decided to start exploiting the
deposit.
