SOCAR chief reports on plans for development

In 2001, the Chirag-1 platform will be expanded in Azerbaijan, said Natik Aliyev, president of SOCAR. Oil production will grow to 7.5 mm tons. In 2002, the Azeri platform with 24 wells and an annual output of 15 mm tons of oil will be commissioned.
In 2004, a platform in the western part of the Azeri field with 48 wells and 20 mm tons of oil will become operational. In 2005, plans call for completing the construction of a platform on the deep section of the Guneshli deposit with 24 wells and an annual output of 15 mm tons.
