The newly-opened Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline transporting oil to international markets is very important for the region and will influence the developments ongoing around the globe, President Ilham Aliyev said addressing the public in the Zardab District.
Aliyev visited central districts to become familiar with the course of the state program on socio-economic development of the regions.

The head of state said some 400,000 jobs opened in Azerbaijan over the past two years and a half and the country is a leader in the world for the Gross Development Product growth rate. Aliyev said the government remains committed to the course started by the nationwide leader, former president Heydar Aliyev, who was the architect of the oil strategy.
"But we are faced with new tasks and must ensure economic and energy security," he said.
