Significant oil discovery in Ward County, Texas

Nov 22, 1996 01:00 AM

Parker & Parsley Petroleum Company announced a significant new oil discovery in the War-Wink West field area in the Delaware Basin of West Texas. The University 18-34 #1 well, operated by Parker & Parsley, tested at rates up to 720 barrels of oil per day, and is currently producing at its expected allowable of 350 barrels of oil per day and is producing 374 thousand cubic feet of gas per day with 3,700 pounds of flowing tubing pressure on a 7/64 inch choke. The well was drilled to a total depth of 11,660 feet and oil was discovered in the third Bone Spring sand formation below 11,400 feet. The War-Wink prospect is located a mile west of the War-Wink South Wolfcamp field, which was discovered in 1979 and has already produced 11.3 mmb of oil and 15 bncf of natural gas. A delineation well is planned approximately 1 mile to the west of this initial discovery and it is anticipated that over the next several months, Parker & Parsley will commence a multi-well developmental drilling program in the 4,500 acre War-Wink prospect.
