Thailand's PTT Exploration and Production said it has discovered natural gas, crude oil and condensate in its Shams-4 exploration well at its Block 44 project in Oman. The project is fully owned and operated by its unit PTTEP Oman Co.
The company said it found the gas, oil and condensate in two reservoir formations with a total thickness of about 96 meters at its Shams-4 exploration well after drilling to a total depth of 3,750 meters, according to PTTEP.

In the first reservoir formation, the testing showed a natural gas flow rate of about 29 mm cfpd and condensate flow rate of around 1,770 bpd.
In the second reservoir formation, the testing indicated a gas flow rate of about 6.7 mm cfpd and crude oil flow rate of around 7,880 bpd, the company said.
A PTTEP official said the gas from the Shams-4 well will be sold to the Omani government. The company is in negotiations on selling crude oil but has yet to reach a conclusion.

Earlier last year, PTTEP signed a preliminary agreement with the Omani government to sell 50 mm cfpd of natural gas from the Shams-3 gas field in the Block 44 project to Oman's Ministry of Oil and Gas. The company plans to produce oil and condensate from the Shams-4 well by the end of 2006.
The Shams-4 well is located in the northern part of the Block 44 project, about 4 km away from the Shams-1 gas field, which is being developed for gas production at a rate of 50 mm cfpd and condensate at 4,000 bpd. The Shams-1 gas field will start production in July.
