Chieftain and EPC discover oil and gas in Gulf of Mexico

Chieftain International has participated in the drilling of a natural gas and oil discovery well on South Timbalier Block 196 offshore Louisiana in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
Chieftain told that the Block 196 number one well was drilled as an exploratory well to a total depth of 12,098 feet and encountered in excess of 110 net feet of hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs in 5 zones. Additional exploratory drilling is planned for the block prior to the design of production facilities.

Chieftain International holds a 50 % working interest in the block with the remainder held by Equitable Production Company.
