The Norwegian Government has approved plans for the building of a new pipeline for the transport of gas from the Njord Field in the Norwegian Sea.
The cost of the project is estimated at NOK 1 bn.

The pipeline will be built by Norsk Hydro, who is also operator of the Njord Field.
The field is located on the Halten Bank, 130 km north west of Kristiansund. The field has produced oil since September 1997, and the investments will allow for production of gas, and thus prolong the life of the field.
